Slovenian countryside offers a lot of diversity, from high peaks of Julian Alps to wine hills of Goriska Brda. However, one of the best and most beautiful places in Slovenia lies at the seaside, in Slovenian and Croatian Istria. There, you can enjoy riding on small, very quiet roads, through picturesque villages that often look like you were transported in Tuscany and of course on gravel roads through the wineyards. Istria is a true Slovenian marvel!

The views will keep you wishing for more, even after a full day in the saddle.

Seaside in the summer is always wonderful, what better way to finish your day in the saddle than to jump in the refreshing sea, right? On Istria Cycling Holidays, you can enjoy riding over the rolling terrain of the villages like Marezige (with its wine fountain!), Šared or Buje, and finish your ride with some nice kilometers at the seaside, on cycling paths where you can safely enjoy the views.

The most famous town of Slovenian Istria is Piran, it is part of Unesco Cultural Heritage and often hailed as the most beautiful town in Slovenia with small alleys, main square, dedicated to composer Giuseppe Tartini, and of course nice beaches on the coast. But there are also Portoroz with its vibrant night life, more homely Izola, Koper with a fascinating port, …

The same goes for the Croatian side of Istria, with beautiful towns of Umag, Poreč, Rovinj and Buje, but also famous Oprtalj, Grožnjan with a lot of artists etc. It is a diverse, yet compact part of the country, that is perfect for days of discovering new places on the bikes. If you wish to hop of the road, there is ample gravel paths waiting for you, not least Parenzana bike path that follows the former railroad from Koper to Porec and is completely secluded from the traffic.

Family tour, long ride or full gas training? In Istria, you can do it all.

And when you are in Istria, you can’t miss its culinary delights! Fantastic wine, cheese, prosciutto and all sorts of pasta, with local Istrian truffles on the top, are just what the doctor ordered after a long day on the bike!

Discover Istria with us on a week-long self guided tour from Slovenian Coast to Rovinj in Croatia. Leave logistics to us and enjoy your cycling holidays on our Istria and Adriatic Coast bike tour!
